Attitude in the Bible
The Bible has a high calling!
Like Jesus
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5
That attitude was characterized by humility- Philippians 2:7-8 He made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
No grumbling
A followers of Christ is called to be a light in a dark world. Our attitude can impact this greatly-
Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. Philippians 2:14-15
Attitude about work
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. Colossians 3:23
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
Attitude of praise
Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! ... Psalm 150:1-6
Joy
Be joyful always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
(I call this my mind/computer reset button. Pray it and reset your heart/mind attitude.)
Thankfulness
Entitlement destroys a godly attitude. In reality we deserve nothing. Everything is a gift from God, every breath, every heartbeat, every star in the sky, for which we can give thanks.
All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 4:15
I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High Psalm 9:1
Psalm 100: Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations
